Getting Started - Options, Options, Options.....

Hello:

Thanks for visiting www.PocketSchedules.net. I am glad you took a couple of minutes to read this page before you started your journey through the site. This site is specifically designed as a resource & source by providing you with a variety of search, viewing, and discussion options.

Like?  For example, I have designed this site to meet the demands of the who collect pocket schedules, yet made it easy enough so anyone of any age and any skill can perform  searches  -  In fact, the dozen or so different search paramaters,  when combined with search, sort and explore options, allow you to make your search as wide or narrow as you want. In other words, if you can dream it up, you can search it.

For example, you can search by images, sizes, sponsors, teams, leagues, dates, sports, colors, number of panels, phrases (like World champion). I have also created search starting points, like the Team Galleries and All Images tabs. Finally, you can also see what was uploaded in reverse order (last - in the lower right hand corner), first (upper right hand corner) and or search by "word, thought or phrase" in the search box in the upper right hand corner (please see below for some suggestions).

To get the most out of the database - which I designed specifically for users like us - I have enabled the use of "tags' - words and phrases that are associated with each scan that will help you find them and identify them. For example, the schedule below has the following tags in it: Houston, Rockets, Yao Ming, NBA, Central Division, 2002, 2003, number of panels, and sponsors are all search phrases that will bring up this schedule for you. For example, if you had a sponsor  - say Budweiser - you would be able to type that phrase in thge search box in the upper right hand corner - in fact, why don't you try it, and see what happens!

OK, now that I have given you the site's basic operations, how should you get started? After the following scan, is a series of search types and instructions on how to do them, so getting started is easy as 1, 2, 3.

I) TEAM GALLERIES TAB

  1. Simply click on the team galleries tab at the top of this page and search for the team you want to view by going from page  to page
  2. Across the top of this page, you will notice the following terms: Gallery, Image, Title, Post date, Parent Gallery, Category, and View. You can click on these terms, and do a search. For example, if you hit post date, you can either see the oldest post, or the newest!

II) ALL IMAGES TAB

  1. Designed for those who are not sure what they want, the "All Images" tab at the top of the page, takes you through our checklist catelogue, one schedule at a time - from A to Z.

III) PRESET PHRASE LISTINGS (BOTTOM OF ALL PAGES):

  1. Look for the "Search - Select Category Of Interest"  -  currently found at the bottom of every page.
  2. Click on the "word or phrase" of your choice - for example if you choose 1992, then alll of the schedules in our database for 1992 will show up!

IV) SEARCH THIS SITE (UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER):

  1. In the Upper Right Hand side of the Header, there is a search box - you can type in something you cant find, there!
  2. For example, type in "Philadelphia, 1993" then hit search, and bingo - you come up with schedules for Philadelphia, for 1993.
  3. Searches can be tailored to look for anything you want!
  4. Once you do your first search, you will find yourself on a page with two things.
    • a list of items that fit your search
    • in the right you will find two additional search tools
      • sort by results
      • facited search - this allows you to further manipulate your search and help you find exactly what you are looking for.

V) READING THE GRAPHIC TITLE

  1. The graphic titles used are very specific. They provide:
    • The team's name
    • The team's city
    • Season/year
    • Cover information
    • Sponsor(s)
    • Extension(s)
      • _a = front panel
      • _b = inside/schedule
      • _c =  back panel

VI) HELPFUL SEARCH HINTS:

  1. Please note: the following codes or words have been used to help standardize searches:
    • _a is always a front panel
    • _b is always the "team schedule that was played"
    • _c is always the schedule's back page
    • Sponsor name
    • Year
    • League
    • Sport
    • Division
    • Player name (if one is on the schedule)
    • City (with team name): for example, Oakland Athletics
